The Valorant Night Market Explained: Discounts, Odds and Rules

The Valorant Night Market is a personal discount event that appears once per Act and lets you buy a small selection of gun skins at a reduced price. As of September 2026 it works the way it has for years: six random cards, each hiding a skin you don't already own, at a discount somewhere between 10% and 49% off. It can be genuinely good value — but only on a skin you would have bought anyway, and there is no way to steer what shows up.

What the Night Market is

The Night Market runs once per Act — roughly every two months — for a limited window that Riot announces in advance. It is personal to your account, so your six offers are not the same as a friend's. You open it to find six face-down cards, and you flip each one to reveal a skin and its discounted price.

There are no rerolls and no swaps. You cannot trade one offer for another, and once the window closes the Night Market is gone until the next Act. What you flip is what you get, so treat each card as final the moment you reveal it.

Which skins can appear

Offers are drawn from Select, Deluxe and Premium gun skins you don't already own. The Night Market does not include Ultra or Exclusive lines, it does not include knives or melee, and it does not include bundle-exclusive items. In practice that means the pool is the mid-and-lower tiers: Select at about 875 VP, Deluxe at about 1,275 VP, and Premium at about 1,775 VP.

You will never flip a finisher-tier Ultra knife or a vaulted Champions Vandal here. And because the market only offers skins you don't own, a large collection can work against you — the more Premium guns you already have, the more the pool narrows toward skins you may not actually want.

It's worth glancing at your existing collection before the window opens, because that pool restriction is easy to forget. If you already own most of the Premium skins for the weapons you actually use, the Night Market may keep serving you sidearms and rifles you have no interest in. There is nothing you can do to bias the draw toward a specific weapon or line — the six cards are simply pulled from whatever eligible skins you haven't bought yet.

How big are the discounts

Discounts range from 10% to 49% off. Most offers land in the 15–30% range, and the 49% ceiling is rare — do not count on it. On a Premium skin priced at 1,775 VP, a typical 20% discount works out to roughly 1,420 VP, while the rare 49% cut would bring it to about 905 VP. The percentage is applied to the skin's normal VP price, so higher-tier offers save more VP for the same percentage.

One honest caveat: the exact odds, the pool weighting and any bad-luck-protection rule are community-reported and appear to shift between Acts. Riot does not publish them. Treat the 10–49% band as reliable and everything about "guaranteed" discount rates as unverified folklore that can change without notice.

Is the Night Market worth it?

The Night Market is only a saving if it discounts a skin you would have bought anyway. A 30% cut on a skin you don't want is not a bargain — it is a nudge to spend on something you would otherwise have skipped. Before you flip, it helps to know what each tier normally costs, which our guide to Valorant skins lays out edition by edition. Set a rough VP budget first, then ask of each card: is this a skin I already wanted, at a price I like?

Remember, too, that you cannot resell anything you buy. A discounted skin is still a permanent, account-bound cosmetic with no cash-out value, so the only return you get is the look and how often you enjoy seeing it in a match.

There is a small psychological trap here that's worth naming. A limited window plus a random reveal is designed to feel urgent, and "49% off" cards are memorable precisely because they're rare. The steady approach is to decide in advance which skins you'd actually enjoy owning, then buy only if one of those surfaces at a price you're happy with. If none of your six cards is a skin you wanted, the correct move is to buy nothing and wait for the next Act.

Planning your VP before you flip

One quirk of Valorant's economy makes the Night Market a little less clean than it looks: you can't buy an exact amount of VP. Points come in fixed packs — $9.99 gets you 1,000 VP, $19.99 gets 2,050 VP, and larger packs add bonus VP — at an effective rate of roughly 100 VP per dollar. So a discounted Premium skin at around 1,420 VP will usually push you into buying the next pack up and leaving a leftover balance on your account.

That leftover isn't lost — it stays on your account for the next purchase — but it's worth factoring in before you decide a discount is a deal. If you're already close to the VP you need, the Night Market can be a tidy top-up. If you'd have to buy a whole extra pack just to afford one card, the real saving is smaller than the headline percentage makes it look, because you've now spent more than the skin's discounted price.

Night Market versus the store and gifting

The featured store rotates full-price skins and bundles for everyone; the Night Market is your own private discount rotation. They are separate systems. One more limit worth knowing: Night Market skins cannot be gifted. Gifting, added in April 2025, is a fresh purchase from the featured store sent to a friend, and Night Market offers are excluded from it. Frequently asked questions

How often does the Valorant Night Market open?

Once per Act, roughly every two months, for a limited window. Riot announces the exact dates, and the market closes automatically when the window ends. As of September 2026 that cadence has held steady.

Can I reroll Night Market offers?

No. You get six cards, you flip each one, and the revealed skin and price are final. There are no rerolls, no swaps, and no way to reopen the market once it closes.

Why do I keep getting skins I don't want?

The pool is limited to Select, Deluxe and Premium guns you don't already own, and the offers are random. The exact weighting and any bad-luck rule are community-reported and seem to change between Acts, so a run of unwanted cards is normal.

Can I get a knife or a Champions skin in the Night Market?

No. Melee and knife skins, Ultra and Exclusive lines, and bundle-exclusive items are all excluded. The Night Market only ever offers Select, Deluxe and Premium gun skins.

Can I gift a Night Market skin to a friend?

No. Gifting only works on fresh purchases from the featured store, and Night Market skins are not eligible. You also cannot gift a skin you already own.
